These guys are not looking to save the world. They want to keep things on a down-to-earth-level -- just making music, touring as much as possible and taking the music as far as it can go. Forget about trying to live up to an image; They are all about being themselves, having fun and powering out their songs with drive and determination.
"Kicked in the Teeth Again" is a darker, harder record than the first, but still retains the melodic sensibility whcih made the first album such a favorite amongst the kids and fanzine writers. Part of this darker feel can be attributed to the fact that Jason Cooper was the main songwriter (as opposed to "Better Days" on which he split songwriting duties with drummer Ross Levine). Ross and his brother, guitarist Matt Levine, left the band in April because of the ever popular "personal and creative differences." But the defection of half the members couldn't kill a band this good -- Tony and Jason number two have stepped in and made Welt an even better, tighter outfit.
So check the listings for the biggest dive in your town; Welt will probably be swinging through in the next couple months in an old van with two cylinders misfiring, playing some of the best punk rock (yeah we know - punk rock is so over!) West and East Coast. Thanks for reading this far. Goodbye now
